AUTHOR SYLVIA MASSARA RELEASES DEBUT NOVEL ‘THE OTHER BOYFRIEND’
Concord NSW, Australia—Sylvia Massara, owner of Tudor Business writing services, recently announced the publication and release of her debut novel, a quirky romantic comedy, entitled ‘The Other Boyfriend.’
After several attempts to secure a literary agent to help sell her book, Massara decided to take her destiny in her own hands and self-publish in eBook form. ‘The Other Boyfriend’ is now available on Amazon.com and a number of other major online retail media sites.
“I’ve been writing since my early teens, and when I decided to do some serious writing all I heard were disheartening stories about traditional publishing,” Massara explained. “There are heaps of stories about famous writers who’ve collected hundreds of rejection slips from literary agents and publishers. You have the likes of Stephen King and JK Rowling, for starters. In fact, JK Rowling supposedly self-published before her novel was picked up by a traditional publisher, and Stephen King had to write something like six novels before he could get the attention of an agent!”
Massara felt that life was too short to go through the traditional process of publishing and, after her fair share of rejections from literary agents, she turned to digital publishing and has never looked back.
“There are many advantages to self-publishing these days,” Massara said. “The most important being that the writer gets to have total creative license in their work; they don’t need to write to a ‘commercial formula’ just because this tends to sell more books. And while money is important, remaining true to oneself is even more so.”
A bit about the book:
Sarah Jamison is on a mission to find a boyfriend for her lover’s partner; and Sarah’s best friend comes to the rescue with an idea so crazy that it just might work. Enter the enigmatic Mike Connor. Sarah hates the man on sight, but her body tells her otherwise. Mike Connor is smug and full of himself; even so, Sarah thinks that with his help she can finally be with the love of her life.
Massara has published through Amazon, Smashwords and Lulu in e-book format, and soon will release a paperback version.

Dear Spammers
Dear Spammers,
Most people would be really annoyed that you submit 30 to 60 spam comments for every post they write on their blogs, but not me.
Why?
Though I’ll never, ever approve any comment is not an actual response to the post I wrote or some other legitimate attempt to communicate with me (especially if it has anything to do with Viagra, Cialis, naked pictures of Rhianna or contains any other questionable links,) I recognize that you’re taking the time to click on my site and to attempt to post a comment.
And that couldn’t hurt my page rankings, so I don’t mind deleting your comments before they’re ever published. It’s just a click of the mouse, no biggie.
Have a great day, and thanks for the clicks!
Now Offering Basic Website Design
I have recently added a new service to my business: Basic Website Design.
Partially because I’m a cheapskate, I tend to build and design my own sites–including those within The WM Network, my own author site and personal development blog, and sites for clients and colleagues.
I can do sites in WordPress, Blogger, and with essentially any web and CMS provider which allows me to upload custom HTML and CSS.
Click here for a list of sites I’ve built, or click here to contact me to discuss your project or request a quote.
National Writing Careers Examiner
I’ve recently accepted a new title with Examiner.com’s national edition as the Writing Careers Examiner. I’ll be discussing the ins and outs of a real live writer’s career, including both the business and the creative side of the writing life, social networking and more. Check it out here. Click the “subscribe” box at the top and you’ll receive a free email subscription.
I’ll also be continuing in my post in the St. Louis edition as the St. Louis Family & Parenting Examiner.
WMF Welcomes Two New Bloggers
The WM Freelance Connection is pleased to announce that two new bloggers have joined our ranks. Please join us in welcoming Lindsay Woolman and Rebecca Dienger to the WM Network family. They replace Kat Foust, who has moved to The WM Parenting Connection and Rebecca Sebek, who will continue to guest post on occasion.
Business Hours
In an effort to better organize my time, I am setting dedicated business hours. During this time, telephone calls and other forms of communication will be focused primarily on business. Personal calls and other forms of contact will be minimized in order to increase productivity.
While the following schedule includes my dedicated business hours, I am likely to be found working in the evenings as well, when time permits.
Dedicated Business Hours
Monday through Thursday: 10 am to 3 pm
Friday: 10 am to 2 pm
Please feel free to contact me at angela@angelaatkinson.com if you have questions or concerns. Thanks in advance.

The WM Freelance Connection Announces New Writing Buddy Program
The WM Freelance Connection is proud to announce our new Writing Buddy Program. We have found that having a writing buddy can seriously improve your productivity and morale, and can even help to advance your career as a freelance writer–plus, such a relationship can literally double your networking power.
How does it work?
While our process isn’t scientific, we’ll ask everyone who is seeking a writing buddy to fill out a brief ten point questionnaire. Then, we’ll review the answers and connect each writer to someone who appears to be compatible.
How do I sign up?
Simply join our WM Freelance Connection writers’ community group and download the form from the site. Alternatively, you may copy the form below and send it directly to us at thewmfreelanceconnection@gmail.com.
Do I have to join the group?
Signing up for the Writing Buddy Program puts you under absolutely no obligation to join the writers’ community group, but you’re always welcome to do so–and it costs you nothing. We’ll help to support your writing buddy relationship by making suggestions and having group support discussions. Plus, you’ll have a direct line of communication with our WM bloggers.
How much does it cost?
The WM Writing Buddy Program is a free service we provide to our fellow freelance writers, as is our WM Freelance Connection community group.
What if it doesn’t work out with my writing buddy?
We understand that there may be a number of reasons a writing buddy relationship doesn’t work. You may have different expectations or needs from the relationship, or your personalities may not be as compatible as they could be. In any case, if you’d like to be matched with a new buddy, just send us an email and we’ll work with you.
Can I have more than one writing buddy?
You can absolutely have more than one writing buddy, but we ask that you don’t take on more than you can keep up with comfortably. We don’t want to leave anyone out in the cold.
What if I’m a newbie?
There are no program restrictions on experience level. We’ll attempt to match you with someone who is at a similar place in his or her writing career, whether you’re just getting started or you’re a well-published writing vet. We encourage anyone who is looking for support as a writer to join the program.
Where can I find that questionnaire again?
You can pick up the questionnaire directly from the files section of the community group, or you may find it below.
Once you’ve completed the questionnaire, please email it to us at thewmfreelanceconnection@gmail.com.
The WM Freelance Writers Connection Writing Buddies Questionnaire
Please answer the following questions and return to thewmfreelanceconnection@gmail.com. We will contact you when we’ve found a potential writing buddy for you. These questions are fairly flexible, so feel free to elaborate on your answers if you’d like.
1. What do you hope to get out of a writing buddy relationship? Are you looking for a partner you can touch base with several times each day, once a day, once a week?
2. Do you prefer to “talk business” only, or are you looking for someone with whom you might develop a friendship?
3. Do you prefer a male or female partner? Does it matter?
4. How do you prefer to communicate with your writing buddy? Via IM, email or phone? Are you flexible in this preference?
5. In which genre(s) are you working (or do you want to work?)
6. What do you think your friends would say is your best quality? Your worst?
7. Are you currently writing full-time, or do you work another job? 8. How long have you been writing?
9. Do you write professionally, or are you just starting out?
10. Any other info you’d like to share?
Please note: The WM Writing Buddy Program is provided at no charge as a service to our members. The WM Network does not pre-screen writer buddies to ensure their legitimacy, so be sure to take appropriate precautions when getting to know your writing buddy.
