Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays from my home to yours. I’ll be back next week with an update!

Happy Halloween-Week Updates

Happy Halloween! I’ve got big news this week. As I have mentioned before, I have been freelancing with Patch.com for almost a year now. I’m excited to announce that I have recently accepted a contract with Patch–which means I’m officially NOT a freelancer with the organization. I’ll be doing reporting and social media mining for 12 St. Louis-area Patch sites for the north region, AKA “Team Edgell”, led by Patch regional editor Holly Edgell.

I’ve worked with many of the local editors in this group before, and I am genuinely happy to have the opportunity to work with the group more closely.

A Long-Overdue Update

Nancy Solomon, me (Angie Atkinson) and IWOC president David Epstein at the IWOC event October 11 in Chicago.

I have been very busy these last few months, and happily so. As I mentioned last week, I’m in the process of changing the focus of my site since I’m not currently actively seeking new jobs. In addition to overhauling the look of the site (which is still a work in progress), I’ve decided to start doing weekly career updates on the blog here.

Since this is my first weekly update, it’s going to include a brief summary of some of the highlights of the past few months.

  • I started working with Scrubs & Suits, a healthcare news website, back in December of 2010, and was named managing editor shortly afterward. I really enjoy my work with S&S because it gives me the opportunity to use my corporate healthcare background and to indulge my love for journalism.

Trying Something New

Since my client list is booming and my writing career is blissfully busy, I thought it might be time to take a slightly different direction with my website.

In fact, I have already begun making changes. As you might have noticed, I’ve redesigned the site and I’m in the process of updating all of my pages.

So many wonderful changes have been happening with my career that I haven’t been updating this blog as often as I’d like, so I’m going to start posting weekly career updates.

I’m doing this for a few different reasons.

Paying It Forward: 10 Ways to Increase Your Freelance Writing Income

If you know me, you know that I’m all about paying it forward. When I launched my freelance writing career six years ago, other freelancers helped me learn the ropes. And since then, I’ve made countless connections with other freelancers who help me keep going every day. In fact, that’s why my partner and I co-founded The WM Freelance Writers Connection, a free one-stop career resource for our fellow freelance writers.

That’s why today’s post is for you, my fellow freelance writers. Are you satisfied with your current freelance writing income, or do you find yourself treading water between jobs?
